Engineering the Internet and its Governance
Akinori Maemura

This presentation will discuss how the Internet is working, operationally like how it should be coordinated both technically and non-technically. "Internet Governance" is not a matter of officers and sociologist, but the Internet Engineers can engineer the Governance as well as the Internet.

About Akinori Maemura: kinori MAEMURA is Research Engineer at France Telecom Research and Development Tokyo, Director IP Department at JPNIC and the Chair of the APNIC Executive Council. He started the career in IP network in 1994 with start-up network design of NEC's BIGLOBE Internet Service. With his primary concern for the Internet Coordination for sustainable operation he is actively involved in Internet Community including JANOG - Japan Network Operators Group as a founding committee member, IP resource management in JPNIC and APNIC, and Internet Governance Issues.

About SANOG8

For the first time, SANOG was hosted in Karachi. There was a lot of requests to host the meeting in Pakistan, and with NSP coming forward to host it, it was indeed an event to note for professionals and operators in the country. Thanks to all who worked hard to make it a success.
